How to deal with the loss of a pet

Remember that losing a pet, whether through death or other means, can be emotionally exhausting. These are some tips to assist you process those feelings.

Acknowledge your feelings
It is bitterly painful to not just deal with the feelings of losing a pet, but in fact everything that comes in association with it; be it sadness, frustration or remorse. Lighten up, it is perfectly fine to go through the entire emotional spectrum without imposing self-validation.
Talk about it
Reach out to your family or friends and pity them with the burden of your emotions. It might do you some good to alleviate your internal battle.
Create a memorial
Thinking of planting a tree or developing a scrapbook that contains a timeline of all photos taken together? That is indeed a wonderful idea, which honors and praises your pets memory offering solace while in pain.
Establish a routine
Create a to-do list for your day. Simple stability of knowing what has to be done accomplishes a lot in terms of overcoming emotional turbulence.
Engage in self-care
When in pain, the worst thing to do would be to neglect your brain and body further. Cook for yourself, eat healthy, spend some time outdoors, exercise and put effort towards practicing mindfulness or relaxation, these will boost your mental health.
Consider journaling
Writing down everything associated with your pet’s memorial services and jotting down thoughts as well as emotions can help you remain level-headed and will assist heal the emotional wounds after losing a pet.
Look for a therapist
 If you are feeling overwhelmed consider a therapist or counselor that helps with grief or pet loss. 
Join other pets communities
There are many support groups and forums that pet owners can join. Many people have experienced the loss of a "furever" friend in a similar way and they can provide the comforting words that you need. 
Foster with a purpose
If you feel ready, foster pets for local shelters or volunteer. This helps in cherishing the spirit of animals and also helps in transforming the lives of helpless animals. 
Don't rush the recovery
As the process of grieving takes time, give yourself the freedom to become whole at your own pace.
Seeking help
Seeking for help is a good option and seeking guidance allows you to heal while missing a furbaby signifies the love you had with them.
